A lil category for albums that didn't really fit into any of the others but all shared one thing :
their appeasing, calming and introspective nature outside of the realms of breakdowns, thundering drums, yells and screeching riffs :
1) Deafheaven - "Infinite Granite" :
Ironically, the first time a Deafheaven really "clicks" with me.
This album is the equivalent of a warm hug and its soundscapes are so incredibly blissful and satisfying. A real treat for the ears!
2) Delta Sleep - "Spring Island" :
Discussing bleak topics with some of the most comforting-sounding music that feels accessible while still being pleasantly technical; only Delta Sleep are able to stimulate that part of my brain in such a way.
3) Slow Crush - "Hush" :
Sonic dreaminess incarnate yet heavy in its melancholy, "Hush" feels like an ethereal journey through hopes, dreams and their unavoidable collapse.
4) Low Roar - "maybe tomorrow" :
Intimate, creative and moving with an unmistakable voice that sings words that often cut deep; "maybe tomorrow" is a beautifully haunting listen.
5) Emma Ruth Rundle - "Engine of Hell" :
Stripped bare yet grandiose in its vulnerability, "Engine of Hell" feels like a very raw confessional, making it a harrowing experience.
6) Hiatus Kaiyote - "Mood Valiant" :
Perhaps the only truly cheerful album on this list, "Mood Valiant" was a ton of fun to listen to and the grooves on this album are absolutely infectious.
