1). Iglooghost - "Lei Line Eon" :
Whimsical shape-shifting soundscapes drag you into a world all of its own where Iglooghost makes the rules with his unique artistical vision.
I truly consider this stuff to be boundary-pushing and rarely have I found electronic music to have such a deep sense of artistic gravitas.
2). Loathe - "The Things They Believe" : Disappointed at first by the absence of mathy riffs, chunky breakdowns and visceral vocals; this ambient album eventually grew on me to the point where it became synonymous with my experience of living through 2021.
3). Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & London Symphony Orchestra - "Promises" :
Joining forces with jazz legend Pharaoh Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra, Floating Points offers a calming and introspective album revolving around a single motif which is assembled and disassembled time and time again in different ways to capture its every facet.
A very unique musical journey.
4). Big Lad - "Power Tools" :
Abrasive, unhinged and incredibly fun, the UK duo show no sign of slowing down, quite the contrary.
5). Lift - "There Is Beauty In Everything" :
Chaos would not exist without serenity as a counterpart, and Frontierer's Dan Stevenson is here to prove it on his solo debut.
6). Gost - "Rites of Love and Reverence" :
A variety of electronic genres inspired by goth music come together in this macabre yet catchy album.
7). Amon Tobin - "How Do You Live" :
Unsettling, dark and brooding with lush arrangements; an odd stimulation of the senses.
8). Monsters Around Us - "Inverted Signs" :
A varied assortment of styles that mainly rely on dark electronics and industrial metal with some unexpected guest features; Excited to follow how this project develops in the future.
9). Jake Bowen - "The Daily Sun" :
Nothing too crazy or "out there" compared to previous entries but some very enjoyable and well produced synthwave nonetheless.
