Top Death Metal / Deathcore Albums of 2021

1). Humanity's Last Breath - "Välde" :

As majestic as it is crushing, HLB have pushed their sound to new heights with this cinematic and refreshing blend of deathcore, thall, black metal and post-metal.

Goosebumps and stank faces all around!

2). Brand Of Sacrifice - "Lifeblood" :

Disorientatingly technical, heavy, symphonic and catchy; this album tries to be many things at once and succeeds in all of them, bringing forth a new generation of deathcore.

3). Alluvial - "Sarcoma" :

Amazing guitar work with a knack for memorable melodies and a great use of dual vocals;

who would've thought tech-death could be so catchy?

4). Rivers Of Nihil - "The Work" :

Although not fully on board with some of the new directions Rivers have taken on this new album, it is undoubtedly one of the most forward-thinking and genre-defying death metal records I've heard in a while and is testament to the band's fearless creativity.

5). Mental Cruelty - "A Hill To Die Upon" :

The relentless brutality of slam death combined with the bleak atmosphere of black metal and the grandeur of symphonic arrangements make this a truly unforgiving experience.

6). Full Of Hell - "Garden of Burning Apparitions" :

Yes I was disappointed by the lack of experimentation, BUT: it's still a badass melting pot of all the filthiest extreme sub-genres you can imagine.

7). Noise Trail Immersion- "Curia" :

Dissonant death metal with a strong sense of atmosphere and identity in parts due to those sections of classical guitar.

8). Antediluvian - "The Divine Punishment" :

A disturbing album that will make you feel as though you just inadvertently stepped into an obscene black mass, 10/10.

9). Ad Nauseam - "Imperative Imperceptible Impulse" :

Experimental, dissonant and unpredictable with some amazing performances.

The only reason it isn't ranked higher is because I didn't listen to it all that often.

10). Obscura - "A Valediction" :

Some amazing musicianship, however I found that this album had trouble distinguishing itself from the rest of their discography and felt a tad repetitive past the halfway mark.

Very enjoyable nonetheless.
