Their last year's sophomore, "Celebrity Therapist" kind of acted as a breakthrough album for The Callous Daoboys (at least in mathcore terms) and saw them tour Europe for the first time, appearing in respected European festivals along the way (ArcTanGent, Radar, Brutal Assault...) and securing them a spot on Tesseract 's upcoming winter EU tour as well.
Clearly, the Atlanta mathcore troupe are doing something right, and while "Celebrity Therapist" boasted their most chaotic, zany yet cohesive material yet while also sounding huge ;
"God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys" and its three tracks somehow manages to surpass it on all fronts.
The Callous Daoboys reach their most creative and aggressively unhinged form thus far on this EP while tying back to previous material through ample self-referencing and pursuing a natural continuation of their explosively colourful exploration of mathcore.
Sounding as insane as their lyrical content rooted in satyrical observations of conspiracy theories, religious fanaticism, political discourse, popular and internet meme culture ; this is the place to be if you like your breakdowns to lead into salsa dance-offs before they turn into a rave or perhaps even a hip-hop tirade over a jazzy interlude.
