Tallah have been making a lot of noise for themselves this year with their singles and the release of their dark concept album "Matriphagy".
Unsurprisingly so, given the tremendously explosive and unpredictable nature of their compositions delivered with precise and masterful technical ability.
Add to that the fact that their line up includes Mike Portnoy's very own son behind the kit and Justin Bonitz of YouTube fame under the alias "HungryLights".
Tallah seem intent on bringing back nu-metal into the current trends of heavy music and bringing this genre that many had presumed dead to new heights by switching it up and mixing it with other genres of extreme music such as deathcore, hardcore and death metal.
Although some of the nu-metal tropes the band revamped on this album might come off as a bit cliché at times, "Matriphagy" is undoubtedly a very strong and impressive debut album.
Most impressive is Justin's vocal flexibility and control over his many voices that make for a very visceral and unsettling listen, never letting go of the energy or the tension behind the music.
I wouldn't be surprised to see these guys becoming massive in a couple of years to be honest.
