Although "Jord" doesn't have the pretension to redefine the sub-genre of technical death metal through experimentation with an array of different genres, the music it presents is perfectly calibrated and delivered expertly.

With a focus on the rhythm section, "Jord" is packed with incredibly satisfying bursts and flurrys of razor sharp guitar riffs and bass grooves while the drums make the ensemble throttle along relentlessly and the vocals follow the drum's lead with mechanical precision.

Clocking in at a surprisingly short (for technical death metal) half-hour, "Jord" 's length makes it a more accessible record compared to monoliths of the genre, allowing more casual listeners to venture in its realms and enjoy a listening experience that is memorable without being too overwhelming.

It's also interesting to see Buster Odeholm (HLB/Vildhjarta) do production work on a style that is quite different from what he usually works on since for once, I would not have recognized his production style were it not for reading the album credits.

It had been a while since I last enjoyed myself this much whilst listening to tech-death;

Definitely check this one out if you haven't already!
