It's always interesting for me to observe whenever an artist launches a project that is the stark contrast of what they are known for musically and reveal another facet of themselves in doing so.
In this case, Dan Stevenson has traded the high-energy, relentless chaos of both Frontierer and Sectioned to create and explore lush electronic soundscapes that continuously morph into something new and unexpected at every turn yet always feels benevolent.
Although it is a rather short project, "There Is Beauty In Everything" is able to leave a lasting impression due to its use of different electronic subgenres (ambient, drum&bass, breakbeat..), shifting dynamics, usage of distorted and broken up vocals and the memorable guest appearances of Adam Betts (Three Trapped Tigers, Colossal Squid) on drums for the track "Zour", Ian Maciack (Machinedrum) on drums for the track "Stutter" and Finn Le Marinel on vocals for the tracks "Stutter" and "James".
From my own perspective and after having read what Dan had to say about the personal implications that went into the making of this project, "There Is Beauty In Everything" also serves as a reminder of how potent music is not only as a tool for communication but also for self-therapy.
So if you're in a capacity to make music, or you've always wanted to; to get something off your chest, no matter what it is. Just go for it. Don't let your song stay inside your head.
