One thing that still surprises me ever since I started writing for this blog is the amount of insanely talented and creative solo projects that exist in underground heavy music.

No matter the genre, I'm always impressed with the quality of the music and the amount of work that must go into making it, even more so when the music is incredibly complex, chaotic yet technically masterful.

Infinite Hex, all the way from New Zealand, is one of the latest discoveries I've made who joins this repertoire of jaw-dropping one-man bands.

The sounds on "Simulacrum & Stimuli" are mainly obtained through synth modulation which bleeds in to the drums and guitars in such a way that the electronic elements almost have an organic quality to them.

In true grindcore fashion, the majority of the album is made of short abrasive one minute tracks which seemlessly flow into each other until the album reaches the end of its half-hour run-time with the eight minute ambient closer "Total Void Ghasm".

The sound design at work here is absolutely creative and you can definitely pick up on a plethora of various heavy and electronic influences that all combine into the making of this cybergind madness.

The music of Infinite Hex feels more like something a malevolent, sentient A.I would create, shaping lines of code into sounds in real-time as the album plays out rather than something crafted by a human brain, which is absolutely fascinating to me.

If you crave outlandish, outside-the-box heavy music deeply steeped in electronics then seek no further and prepare to be hexed by the synthetized world of "Simulacrum & Stimuli".
