"Meridian" is the debut album by Belgian metal collective Hippotraktor, who sees musicians from bands like Psychonaut, Before He Shot Her and L'itch write and record music together under the same name and release it through Robin Staps's (The Ocean) very own record label, Pelagic Records, known for its impressive roster of incredible post-metal acts.
Hippotraktor are able to convey both the dramatic and intense soundscapes of cinematic proportions that are synonymous with post-metal and the fun chuggy riffage of djent, along with its rhythmical intricacies while still carrying a strong sense of progressive metal mysticism to their compositions that flow effortlessly from start to finish.
Blistering vocals, epic sound design and head-bobbing djenty riffs galore, "Meridian" is a really strong debut that should appeal to both post-metallers and djent aficionados!
