2020's "Cost of Sacrifice" was my introduction to Chamber and it definitely left a strong impression on me right away since I ranked it among my favourite releases of the genre that year.
Even though Chamber exist in a similar sphere as bands like Knocked Loose, Code Orange and Vein.fm genre-wise, and there are indeed some musical resemblences, I could tell as soon as I first heard them that they had their own spin on this specific style going for them; and I'm not even 100% sure what it is, whether it's that balance between the simplistic brutality of beatdown matched with the cuttingly precise, mathy dissonance of chaotic hardcore, or if there's something else.
Either way, with their latest EP, "Carved In Stone", I feel like Chamber have taken an even bigger step in setting themselves apart within that crowd and have stepped up their game even more to deliver the heaviest, most unbridled and creative tracks they could write as of yet.
Although it's only three tracks and ten minutes long, "Carved in Stone" leaves a lasting impression yet again and makes full use of its time to unpack everything it has to offer to the listener, and there is way more happening on this EP than one could anticipate.
Chamber are undoubtedly one of the lesser known acts in that category of heavy music that deserve your full attention if you are a fan of the genre.
And as far as I'm concerned, this EP gives some of the big names of said genre a run for their money when compared to some of their most recent outputs.
