Although this project was intended for release around 2012 and then abandoned due to the band being dissatisfied with the final mix, A Dark Orbit recently decided to release it nonetheless eight years later instead of it never seeing the light of day.
And I'm so glad they did since "Parhelion" despite being almost 10 years old and having less production value than "Inverted" (officially their first LP) sounds very fresh and relevant in a time where music subgenres and trends evolve so fast.
The riffs on this feel like freak waves crashing against your ears and engulfing you in groovy, sludgy bliss accompanied by atmospheric interludes.
Chad Kapper sounds as badass as usual on this record, delivering his signature compressed fry screams and yells that are in my opinion some of the most consistantly electrifying vocals in the scene.
The only criticism I'd have to make is that the record can come across as a bit too lengthy and that some of the fat could have been trimmed off for an even more memorable listen.
Other than that, this record is a massive banger, thank you A Dark Orbit for blessing our ears with this buried gem.
