Top Black Metal Albums of 2021

I know, I know; pretty much all of these are more black metal adjacent than full-on trve black metal but it is what it is folks :

1). MØL - "Diorama" :

Combining the melancholic dreaminess of post-rock and shoegaze with the viciousness of black metal, "Diorama" is as invigorating as it is introspective and grandiose.

2). Portrayal Of Guilt - "We Are Always Alone" :

Put the energy of hardcore together with the raw bleakness of black metal and you've got yourself one of the filthiest and most miserable sounding albums this year, in the best way possible.

3). The Silver - "Ward of Roses" :

I didn't think black metal could ever be theatrical or even glamorous, yet The Silver have proven me wrong with their versatile debut.

4). Breaths - "Lined In Silver" :

A mixed bag of post-metal, prog and shoegaze united upon the foundation of black metal makes for a truly unique experience and a very solid debut from this solo project.

5) .Der Weg Einer Freiheit- "Noktvrn" :

Black metal has rarely felt so cinematic.

Although utilizing elements of post-rock, it looses nothing of the blistering aggression the genre is known for.

6). Harakiri For The Sky - "Maere" :

An album that has a truly intense and gripping atmosphere but ultimately suffers from its lengthiness in my opinion.
