I personally always find it a bit tricky to talk about instrumental post-rock acts in detail since it's easy to simplify the entire genre as being uniform between the miriad of bands that perform this style.

You're often bound to find similar sounding chord progressions, layers of delayed guitars, orchestral arrangements and crescendo-like compositions that are meditative, melancholic and end in an uplifting and intense climax.

And although I tend to think this is rather true on a very surface level, it would be way too easy to summarise the genre and every band that is part of it in such a way since every artist brings his own touch to it that feels familiar yet unique too.

This is kind of what went through my head while listening to this record.

Yes it doesn't reinvent the post-rock formula and borrows from exponents of the genre but it is very well executed and has its very own identity and creates a world all of its own during the forty-two minutes of runtime during which it exists.

I enjoyed the production, the drumming, the guitar tones and the string arrangements quite a lot (especially on "Tallest Trees").

I'd say this is a very nice contemplative piece of instrumental post-rock with great songwriting and is sure to delight any fans of the genre.
