Juan Bond - "Womb"

Genre : Mathcore

Label : Dark Trail Records

FFO : The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Callous Daoboys, Daughters

"Womb" is such an energetic record in which you can pick up some of the more traditional punk ("Bat") and grunge ("Papa's Got a Brand New Bed") and even progressive metal ("Morbid Mortgage") influences behind Juan Bond's intense chaotic mathcore sound.

The rhythm section is incredibly tight and the album is full of really cool tempo changes and breaks.

It also includes an electric violin which doesn't simply serves as a quirky gimmick but actually adds a lot of tension and dissonance to the songs with its piercing, shrieking sound.

But it's also capable of adding beauty to some of the more melodic passages ("Womb") before the chaos takes over again, where it also finds its place and shreds just as hard as the guitars do ("Water Waiter").

Overall, "Womb" is chaotic, abrasive, fun, thoughtful, technical, original and creative which is everything mathcore should be.

Juan Bond have started off the year right and have given me hope that this is gonna be a fruitful year for mathcore!
