Instrumental Post-Rock Feature (September 2020)

  • Cloudkicker - "Solitude" :

Release date : September 8th,2020

Label : Self-release

FFO : Russian Circles, Pelican

Definitely the most aggressive album out of the other two I'll be presenting, this one oscillates between post-rock and sludgy post-metal, showcasing a multitude of various soundscapes both beautifully aerial and crushingly heavy, a great listen to be sure!

  • Silent Island - "The Curse of Coleodeia"

Release date : September 4th,2020

Label : Casus Belli Musica / Beverina Productions

FFO : Tides From Nebula, We Lost the Sea

Aw, man I love Silent Island.

Although there exists a ridiculous amount of instrumental post-rock acts all going for the same sort of chilled-out melodramatic sound, this projet to me is the one that pulls it off the best. Silent Island have some immediately recognisable melodies and guitar work that makes every track endearing in my opinion and just perfectly suits the melancholic atmosphere of Autumn so well.

This album pretty much feels like a lovely cup of hot chocolate after having been in the damp cold while wearing your favourite woolen jumper and watching the last lights of day fade from the sky. Another great addition to a flawless discography!

  • Distant Dream - "Point of View"

Release date : September 5th,2020

Label : Widek Records

FFO : God Is An Astronaut, Scale the Summit

This is another great instrumental post-rock album that dabbles in another genre, this time being more progressive metal oriented with a solid list of guest features : (Jake H. Lowe from The Helix Nebula and Plini (live), Pierre Danel from Kadinja, Stel Andre and Connor Kaminsky).

I enjoyed the more technical elements of prog metal added to the dreamy post-rock sound, I felt like it switched up things a notch and the guest appearances keeps the listener on his toes.
