I feel like this is the kind of album that takes a few listens before you can tell whether you fully appreciate what it has to offer or not.
And I think that is mainly due to the very different styles that clash along this one hour ride.
Although the mix of post-metal, prog, black metal, doom and shoegaze is an interesting and original sound that definitely pulls the floor from under your feet a good few times, I feel like it doesn't always flow as well as it could have and can be a bit too angular in its style switchups, but when it does flow well, it is quite a satisfying experience.
I'm far from being an expert on engineering so I won't delve into that territory too much but there are some aspects of the production that I am not too crazy about and I think it mainly has to do with the way the drums are mixed in, but as I said I'm no expert.
However, the fact that the lengthy, adventurous, both dreamy and nightmarish "Lined in Silver" is the result of one man's (Jason Roberts) craft is worthy of praise since that is no small undertaking and the result, although a demanding listen, is without a doubt, worth lending an ear to.
