On their sophomore album "Delude", the Danish 5-piece Telos, which includes familiar face Viktor Kaas (EYES & more recently LLNN) behind the mic, bring out the best elements of every sub-genre they blend together in their unforgiving, potent concoction.

It's not too often that the worlds of black metal and mathcore collide, yet Telos pull this off with a vicious efficiency as blast beats, raspy shrieks and frigid tremolos coalesce with ear-pricking panic chords and frantic rhythms while the murky bassiness and trampling heaviness of sludgy post-metal envelops it all in a decidedly punishing ensemble that is irresistable to the vertical back-and-forth motions of the spine.

Telos aren't easy to pin down stylistically given how easily the tracks on "Delude" can shift from frenzied dissonant assault to a booming downtempo pummeling of the skull, and that is a major factor of what makes this album such a heavy delight to partake in.

Undoubtedly among the most infectious heavy releases I've heard this year so far, Telos have crafted one of the better-sounding and well executed melting pots of extreme sub-genres this year with no excess fat left to trim, leaving only the best cuts for the listeners to enjoy;

no throwaways here.
